Tall black lacquer room divider, possibly the style of asian coromandel screens? There appears to be considerable amounts of gold leafing, with pink tones.
It certainly does not match the tradition looks of temples or floral.
You can see small places where it looks like either the gold leafing has come off, I really have no idea on that...it just shows places in silver tone that would not be part of the design. They dont feel like they are on top of the finish....the finish is completely smooth.
Height is just over 6 ft tall and each panel is approx 16-18 inches.
The feet seem to match older more traditional styles of coromandel screens.
The back is solid black except for a couple large light swipes of paint suggesting bamboo
Note the odd silver issues are only on the front bottom areas of the panels, anything showing elsewhere is just reflection with the camera.
I bought just because I loved it, I have no idea of what to honestly and fairly ask, to sell it. Perhaps its just made the last 30 yrs or so in that style. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Asian coromandel screen?
I am a dealer in Asian antiquities. This is not a Coromandel Screen, but a contemporary screen,
most likely made in China. Only decorative value. Coromandel Screens are at least 100 years old or
more,
