A very brief, 20 yr. old appraisal identified this as a hand carved, Italian neo-classic chair. We have seen some identified as renaissance revival hall chairs as well. There is damage under the upper left cherub, a split in the rear support, what appears to be a split in the seat and possibly to the lower left gargoyle. Any information on its origin, type of wood, age, advice regarding restoration and idea of value/asking price would be greatly appreciated.
