Chinese Screen Divider

Description

I’ve had this Chinese screen divider in my family for many years. My parents bought it as an antique in the 1950’s. I don’t know anything else about it other than it being Chinese and an antique so any help in learning about possible year made and valuation would be much appreciated.

It appears to be a 1920's…

It appears to be a 1920's era Japanese folding screen. Are the feet Brass? That could also be gold leaf as the background.

Look for a makers mark or signature on the feet and back panels. Not all were marked though so don't get disappointed if you do not find one.
Good luck.

Hi Travisrv, thank you very…

Hi Travisrv, thank you very much for the information. I always thought it was Chinese, but it makes sense it’s Japanese. It does appear to have brass and wood feet. I’ll look for the makers mark and see if it has one next time I move it. It’s heavy so I currently it “mounted” with fishing wire to the wall behind it so it’s a bit of work :). Amazing how the screen from the link you sent looks almost identical to mine. Again, thanks much for the information and your help. Now just have to find out what it may be worth.
