Description

Hello! I have just bought what I think is a fairly old piece of furniture for $75 and I was wondering if it holds any value as an antique item - or if its simply old. I checked the back, bottom, shelves and inside the drawer cubby and can't find any manufacturer markings or stamps. The back of the piece is real wood (not ply wood or card board) but it's not nailed, its screwed (old screws).  It has decorative lion head pulls on the ouside of the drawers and brass drawer pulls.   There are oval, convex mirrors with some yellowing on the front of the cabinet doors - around the mirrors are brass tacks (I assume hand placed since they are not uniform around the edges).  The original skeleton key is with the piece so the cabinet doors lock.  You insert the key in the right side  to open the right door (left side has a false key hole decoration) the left door opens by pushing on a release at the top back of the door.  The bottom of the piece is supported by 8 wooden legs (no plastic or metal on the bottom) - 4 in front / 4 in back.  The top of the piece is in-layed with what I only assume is leather and gold leaf.   I've attached 3 pictures - 1 & 2 are before I cleaned & conditioned it with lemon oil, picture 3 is after. I'd love to know if this piece is an antique and what the value is if anyone can help me.  I can also provide more picutres if needed. Thanks, Kerri
