I have one also almost 12" long.  The ivory has been shaped at one end to a fish mouth.  Scrimshaw includes eagle, polar bear, sea bird and a fish.  I got this from my grandfather who lived in Portland, Oregon.  I have no idea on the value of this piece or the much larger one that I have, but I think these smaller ones should be close to $1000 just based on prices for other Eskimo ivory things I've seen over the years.  Mary in Albany, Oregon
