I have one also almost 12" long. The ivory has been shaped at one end to a fish mouth. Scrimshaw includes eagle, polar bear, sea bird and a fish. I got this from my grandfather who lived in Portland, Oregon. I have no idea on the value of this piece or the much larger one that I have, but I think these smaller ones should be close to $1000 just based on prices for other Eskimo ivory things I've seen over the years.
