Looks to be Oak, in excellent condition.  Curious about approximate value.

$500 about 30 years ago. It had recently been refinished. (I know that reduces value)

The market was rising at quite a clip for furniture like this when you purchased it, but values for late Victorian furniture have taken a bit of a tumble since then. This piece is Late Eastlake, comparable pieces can be found in mail order catalogs dating from the 1890's. The good news is it's maintained its value, we'd retail one for a price comparable to what you paid for yours and take offers from there.
