Description
this chair belongs to my fiance, it was handed down to her from her grandmother. i've done some research and decided it was made in the late 1800s due to the plywood-ish back. it is all original except for one "spindle" i guess its called, and other than that its in great condition. just looking for an age, value, or manufacturer, or all of them. thanks for any help with finding out more about this wonderful rocking chair.
Re: family heirloom rocker
It's unlikely you will find a maker as chairs of this type were mass produced by a number of manufactureres centered in Grand Rapids Michigan during the late 19th Century through the 1920's. Similar chairs were offered in mail order catalogs such as Montgomery-Ward circa 1898-1900. As is at auction they sell for under $150.00.
