it's definitely a metal of some sort, has a lady on the front with two cherubs near her feet. It also has a pretty piece that goes around it. Sorry about the ladder behind it, it's awkward and won't stay up on it's own. My husband came across this remodeling a flip house. It came off of the fire place. I don't know how old it is. But is was a pretty old house. P.s. I don't know how to flip the pictures. Sorry
