Description My father purchased this in the 1950's from Mr. Miller. He was in the southwest at the time. The painting is in perfect condition, has never seen the sun. A wonderful oil painting, with deep vibrant colors. I replaced the frame with a more modern look, about 20 years ago.

Garver Miller was a well-known artist, mostly for his illustrations in a few military history books.  I have seen references to artists who have won a "Garver Miller award", but am not sure of what this award is for.

More info:  I just spoke with my dad about the painting.  It was one of Mr. Miller's favorites.  It was hanging in Mr. Miller's house for some time, and my dad had expressed a desire to buy it on several occasions.  Then, a year or so before Mr. Miller died, he sold it to my father.  He sold a lot of stuff then, to provide for his wife after he died (of cancer).
