"Five Indians" by Garver Miller

By MCoupeAtlanta, 17 August, 2010
Description

My father purchased this in the 1950's from Mr. Miller. He was in the southwest at the time.

The painting is in perfect condition, has never seen the sun. A wonderful oil painting, with deep vibrant colors.

I replaced the frame with a more modern look, about 20 years ago.

Re: "Five Indians" by Garver Miller

Garver Miller was a well-known artist, mostly for his illustrations in a few military history books.  I have seen references to artists who have won a "Garver Miller award", but am not sure of what this award is for.

Re: "Five Indians" by Garver Miller

More info:  I just spoke with my dad about the painting.  It was one of Mr. Miller's favorites.  It was hanging in Mr. Miller's house for some time, and my dad had expressed a desire to buy it on several occasions.  Then, a year or so before Mr. Miller died, he sold it to my father.  He sold a lot of stuff then, to provide for his wife after he died (of cancer).
