Iron and Crystal Chandelier

By Jennifer W, 20 April, 2013
Description

This is a beautiful hand forged iron chandelier.  I have been searching for something similar online and haven't come across anything.  I think it may be a Continental Chandelier, although I could be wrong on that.  Searching online I have seen Continental Chandeliers that have similar characteristics.  This chandelier has 6 arms and the overall dimensions are 26" wide by 24" high.  There are two rings with square crystals attached, the top ring has a 6" circumference with 12 crystals and the bottom ring is 11" with 24 crystals.  In the center of the chandelier there are three flowers with leaves attached to a center disk that houses the electrical connections.  There are six chains which connect the two tiers together.  The pictures show only the chandelier and crystals in the center rings, Not all the crystals.  I removed the crystals to clean them and, depending on the value of this piece, might paint the chandelier so I have not replaced the crystals yet.  In total this chandelier has 103 crystals... 66 crystals that hang from the arms and scrolls, the 36 square crystals in the rings and one large ball that hangs from the base.  One thing I noticed is that the wiring is external on the arms, it is  tied under the "spokes" of the bottom ring. The chandelier is very heavy when all the crystals are attached, I estimate probably 15-20 pounds.
