Description
This metal horse sculpture has been handed down in family, grandfather told my mother it was worth something? It is in fine condition and could be bronze, it has no markings, date or anything. Is it part of a collection or just a nice figurine?
Re: mom's horse sculpture
Hi,
That's a beautiful piece you have there! It puts me in mind of the horse sculptures of Boris Lovet-Lorski. If it were mine, I'd have it appraised and meanwhile take good care of it. DON'T polish it! Maybe just dust it with a soft cloth, but no chemicals.
If it turned out to be a Lovet-Lorski, it could be worth a great deal of money!
I hope you're able to learn who the artist is. I would love to know myself!

Re: mom's horse sculpture
Hi again,
I just pulled out a couple of my books on horse sculpture and antiques, and if you'll go to Amazon.com and search in the "books" category for a book titled "Horse
Antiques and Collectibles" by Deborah Rashkin, you'll see on the cover a bronze statue of a pair of running horses. They look very much like the horse you have, even down to the brass highlights. It is 8" tall and 13" wide. Unfortunately, this piece is also unmarked, but in 2001 when the book was published, this piece was valued at $400.00. I hope this helps!
