Description I have a 26 tall by 20 in diameter occasional table that's been in my family that my mother's told me that is over 150 years old. I know it was in the family before she was born and that was in 1933. Im not sure if the table was built by a professional furniture maker or a simply a talented individual. She did have it refinished about 40 years ago which I know can make a difference in the value. In either case I would like would be interested in receiving appraisal on the table.
Category American Furniture
Medium Oak Wood
Distinguishing marks None noticeable
Condition Mint
Size and dimensions of this item 26" tall x 20" diameter
Date Period I believe it to be around 1873
Weight Around 30 - 40 lbs
History As explained above it's a family heirloom that's been in the family for 150 years. I know for a fact my great grandmother had the table in her possession and it was passed down to me and now I'm looking to get an appraisal on the table to find out it's value.
Price I believe it was appraised for $10,000 40 years ago and that was because my mother had the table refinished.

Your late 19th century classical style drum table looks to be mahogany from the photos. It would bring $150-$200 at auction.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but based on the construction details your table is unlikely to predate the 1920's. It's in what's called the "Federal Revival Style", the design based on originals made 1780-1820. comparables often sell at auction for under $150.00.

I've been in the Antique business since the 1960's and have to say It's not uncommon to hear such family stories, but quite they are embellished with the passage of time. The construction details of this table are of a type not used until after the turn of the 19th century, and very much of those used in the 1920's.
