Description

Another item from the basement. A dark-greenish glass(?) bowl, with a multi-hued effect inside. The only markings, inside or out, are a letter 'N' , underlined and circled. I'm at a loss on how to better describe this one.

Category Glassware and Crystal
Medium Glass?
Distinguishing marks A capital 'N', underlined, inside a circle, both inside and outside of the bowl
Size and dimensions of this item 11" x 3-1/2"
History Belonged to grandmother (1905 - 1970), and possibly *her* mother.

Carnival glass. There are a few different types. Their cool to look at and pretty valuable from what I've seen. I believe it is also around the depression glass era.

originally produced by Fenton art glass (USA) in 1908 as competition to the expensive Tiffany glass. It did not sell as well as expected and was discounted. Fairground owners began to buy it up to use as prizes (hence the name). See:

My original statement was composed as a follow on to jeralyn's comments.
