Lyre back chairs in rough condition. Missing spindles that run vertically along the back and other small pieces as seen in the pictures. Wood cracked/broken, finish flaking off. 34.5 inches tall, seat is 16 or 17 iches across. There are remnants of a label on the bottom of each chair. All that is visible is some handwriting, but not enough to make out an actual word or words. Purchased from a thrift store in just the last few days. I really want to strip them down and completely restore them, but before I do that, I wanted to find out any information I could, as I currently know almost nothing. I've only been able to find a set of 6 of these chairs (they look the same) for sale online for $38,000. They are in perfect condition, of course. I just want to make sure that I'm not going to hurt the value of these by refinishing them. (My feeling is whatever I do is only going to help at this point.)
I appreciate any information anyone can provide, I'm really quite curious about them. I love the form - that's why I bought them.
Thank you,
