Planter or Fruit Bowl by Freeman Leidy

Description

I purchased this planter (I assume it is a planter) that is signed by Freeman Leidy on the bottom and was told it is of California Potteries. The condition is good although it does have two small areas with chips, pictured, and there is crazing as well. It was explained that crazing is normal for its age, guessed to be around the 1940's to 1960's. I am searching for answers to the following:

-Age

-Approximate value, both insurance and retail

-Item name or line

-Care instructions

-Functionality - Fruit Bowl? Planter?

The dimensions are: 8" tall, 10" wide, pedestal base

Thank you to any and all who may be able to answer these questions!
