Description
This doll was given to my mother in 1930 and was said to be 100 years old then. The head is in good condition and I can not find any identifying marks on the back of the shoulder area as in some porcelain dolls. The hands and feet are wood, condition is good, but the paint is mostly worn off. The note my mother wrote about it in 1984 said it has the same clothes on it then as when she received it in 1930. I doubt the clothes are original to the doll because they look to be machine stitched, the fabric is fragile and yellowed in places due to age. The body is cotton stuffed cloth.
Re: Porcelain Doll
This China doll is called a high brow flat top, German made and circa 1870's. She is highly sought after by collectors and would bring around 250.00 in today's market. Keep her in a controled environment and never remove her clothing. It's considered a kind of taboo to serious collectors. She's beautiful to say the least.
