The Prairie Barn" stands like a sentinel, tall and proud. Hargrove has endowed this old barn with a timeless dignity. The simple stark image is very reflective of the artist's early period and it led to early comparisons to Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth. "The Prairie Barn" was released in 1978 as a 20 x 24, Open Edition Serigraph on canvas and each was hand enhanced by the artist. Due to the popularity, two additional sizes were introduced: 8 x 10 and 12 x 16.
