Hello
This Maurice Utrillo V 1938 signed painting ( 24 x 30 ) in an old gold antique frame looks to be either a oil painting copy or a lithograph. It is not numbered as lithographs usually are but has a copyright symbol by De Koven which could make it a painted copy as when I researched the name De Koven the most likely copyrighters were a Seymour De Coven who was a well know artist from Chicago around the time period such a work of art would of been copyrighted after the original artist death in 1955. It also could of been copyrighted as a lithograph by a Reginald De Koven who was a printer / lithographer who worked for American Publishing Company as far back as 1888 but I have not found his date of death so not sure which one of these two are most likiely copyrighters of the art work I have. If anyone is familiar with this particular painting and the actual copyrighter of it and approximate value it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I have what appears to be a Signed Maurice Utrillo V 1938 oil painting or lithograph. I am not sure if it is a painted copy or lithograph. I see brush strokes all over it and was wondering if those can be transferred onto a lithograph canvas or a textured canvas can be used to get this result. The canvas measures 23 15/16 x 29 15/16 and looks to be poster board.
I bent some of the nails holding cardboard backing on and discovered under frame in left lower corner a copyright symbol by De Koven. I researched that last name and came up with 2 most likely people, either Reginald De Koven who was a printer / lithographer Assistant Secretary for the American Publishing Company as far back as 1888 and not sure how long he lived and then possibly Seymour De Koven who was an artist from Chicago who definitely was around in 1938 but being it was copyrighted it probably was done around after 1955 when Maurice Utrillo passed away as I seen other copyrights of his work from 1957. If you know anything about these two in relation to copyrights of this particular artwork I would be interested in finding out if it was a painted copy or lithograph and if a lithograph how many copies were made. I would imagine it would be worth more than a lithograph if it was the only had painted copy by Seymour De Koven so if that is the case what would fair value be in what appears to be excellent condition in a antique gold frame .
If anyone is familiar with this artwork and or the De Koven who painted or lithographed and copyrighted it and approximate value it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
