Ukrainian Accordion-Fold Booklet

Profile picture for user Jonwolf
By Jonwolf, 11 September, 2011
Description

This metal booklet has been puzzling me for a few days now.  No research has been yielding and any answers about what it is or its worth.  I know that the words on the front and back cover translate to “Kiev” the capital of Ukraine.  The art on the front cover is “The Founders of Kiev” a statue erected in 1982.  There is a soviet hammer and sickle on the back on the top bit of the badge.  I assume this means the booklet was made before the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.  I have not been able to find what the badge on the back in total is supposed to be, though.  I assumed some insignia of the country, though my research shows that is a wildly different symbol.

The two pictures of text are located inside the cover of the booklet. I know the second side explains each of the pictures (labeled 1-13), but the other side is a mystery to me.  I assume all the text is in Russian.

My guess would be that this is a tourist souvenir, but I am not sure.  I have no idea how much something like this is worth.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
