well i bought this gas mask with its canister and it came with a book of war from 1975 the person that i bought the gas mask told me that her husband use it when he was in vienam and she kept it that all i was told and thats all i know

most gas masks were made by the millions and are readily available at your local army/navy surplus store brand new in the canister for right around the price you paid in most cases, you might look oñ the gas mask to see if there is a makers mark or model # and do a quick goofed search for it, if its a particularly rare one they can be up to around $100+/-
