Vintage Cigar Humidifier / Smoke Box

I've heard this is was a cigar humidifier/smoke box.  I'd love to find out more about it - how old it is, value etc.  I picked it up at a local market sale this past weekend and gave it a bit of TLC.  It's now my end table next to the reading chair.

The top had water damage and a big crack.  The inside is copper lined and it also has a drawer.  The drawer and interior are in perfect shape.  It also came with the original key and the lock works.  There is artwork on both sides, the drawer and the cabinet.
