The Washington Razor manufactured by Wade & Butcher, Sheffield

By BrittanyAdkins, 27 December, 2011
Description

This was purchased from a man I know who kept it in a safety deposit box. I have done online research and it suggest that the handle is made out of ox horn and the manufacturer started making these in or around 1820. I have no idea when this was made. I would like to know when this was made. Why it was made and how much it is worth.

Old razors like this are not rare, virtually every male had  one like this until the advent of the saftey razor about 1900. Unless they have an unusual design or handle most sell for under $20.00 at auction.

Re: The Washington Razor manufactured by Wade & Butcher,...

It was made between 1850 and 1890 probably around 1870 + or -. the scales are horn and dont have much value as they are cracked and chipped. Refurbished you're looking @ 100$ + or - depending on how well it polishes out and the value of the new scales it needs. As is... around 30$
