White Star Stove

By mealhouse, 5 June, 2009
Description

White Star Stove / Oven from the Detroit Vapor Co. I believe it's from the 1930's and it looks to be in working condition though it has not been used or tested. Some cosmetic damage to the lower left corner of the oven door and hinge seems to be loose, but other than that it's clean.

Re: White Star Stove

The stove looks to be in good shape but finding the right buyer is hard it should bring between 250 and 400 dollars. but again it is a mater of finding the right buyer

Re: White Star Stove

Any tips on finding a potential buyer? Due to it's weight and size it's not something that can be moved around easily, so is the internet the best bet? I've tried a couple Craigslist posts but haven't had much luck, but as you said finding the right buyer is the key.

Thanks for the response.

Re: White Star Stove

your best bet for selling this is to find a local antique shop/mall that accepts consignments. some will pick up, others you will have to bring it to them. be sure to read the contract carefully, noting what percentage the store keeps, timeline for markdowns, how long they will keep it, etc. because out-of-town tourists, collectors, antique dealers, interior decorators, etc. often stop by these malls you have a group interested in this type of item. as far as price goes, the owner of the mall can give you an idea of what these stoves are going for, if they sell quickly, etc.
i found a similar stove at:

although it seems a little overpriced to me, i think you can make well over the $50 offer you were given, even after the store takes their percentage.
