Whittall Anglo Persian rug, 9X12, with parrot in the corner

By Cynthia Smith …, 4 January, 2014
Description

I have a machine made Whittall Anglo Persian Rug that dates to pre WWI? and it was destroyed in a flood.  I have owned it since 1980 when I inherited it from my grandfather.  It is 9X12, was in good condition, gray with black, some reds, brown, taupe, green & the most stunnimg red parrot sitting on a gold hoop in the 1 of the corners.  The insurance company has no idea how much it is worth.  To me it was priceless and the parrot is a symbol of protection.  Any information is much appreciated.

History
Pre WWI, 9X12 Whittall Anglo Persian rug that has sewn in white embroidery "Whittall Anglo Persian" across the canvas back of the rug in several places. Machine made, was stitched together in 4 panels. This was a total loss in a basement flood and the insurance company has no idea what it is worth. It has 6 colors & remarkably they did not run together or away. I need help in determining the cost.
