Re: WW II German Nazi Helmet
$500 would be the retail for a store...however I have noticed stores price these items much above real value because they sit on the shelf a while. Collectors usually find things cheaper from individuals, estate sales etc and usually pay less than a website would pay. I would say $200-$300 would be a fair price to sell it for, with $250 being fair. If someone were desperate for it to complete their collection you may get $300-400...$500 would be a stretch and would have to be listed online in classifieds and might sit there for 2 years before it sells. These type items have a range of value because so many were made in different years, models etc that more information and pictures would be necessary to give a true/accurate assesment. Wear and condition has an effect on value as well and I cannot see the condition well from 1 picture so I am giving you a 'ballpark'. I spent about 30 hours this weekend researching a German sidecap my grandfather collected when he was a U.S. rifleman in WWII so I saw many items this week and am basing my pricing off research...search around the web if you need more info, I have a few more links if you can't find anything. Here is one:
http://books.google.com/books?id=6zp3Crxzp50C&pg=PA59&lpg=PA59&dq=red+waffenfarbe+piping+sidecap&source=bl&ots=IRxbVNuh5M&sig=AYphD3hJnQfWBGDuPtBNxXu0RZs&hl=en&sa=X&ei=bpcAUYC8NcPOqwH2lICgAQ&ved=0CC4Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=red%20waffenfarbe%20piping%20sidecap&f=false
This book might help, you can browse it online free up to a certain amount of times.
Re: WW II German Nazi Helmet
*correction, collectors pay less than a website would SELL it for, not pay.

O66 is the shell size and the other number is just a serial number from the production line.
How much would you take for it? Does it have the leather liner and chin strap?
