A certain amount of the
A certain amount of the value of a trunk comes from condition. Having original handles is great (replacements are available but tricky to get on). Having original lining is nice (if not too dirty) with a great graphic on the inside lid. Also there is a tray that they came with. It's more valuable if it has the original tray, also with the lining. Sometimes folks paint these wild colors and that's difficult to remove so original black and wood is the best finish. Flat trunks make great coffee tables so folks sometimes attach a higher value to those. I like the dome ones myself. Your price seems very fair.
