Sewing Table

By ulrikelechert, 28 January, 2008
Description

The table has 4 safety drawers that will only open if you turn the ring and then pull. All 4 legs have wheels.

The current tabletop has been added on at some point to make the surface larger (see image). This new tabletop can be removed to expose the original surface which is in good condition. There are 6 holes in the original surface where a larger tabletop was added. I am adding photos of the table with and without the extra top.

sewing table

This "table" formerly held a sewing machine. These sewing machine cabinets with the machine in tact are only valuable to people who do not use electricity since they are run by foot power on a treadle. Amish people still use these and people that are off the grid. Otherwise, in my experience, I couldn't give these away. Prices I've seen: $35.00. Yours has been canabalized and made into a table, something that was done problably in the 1960's or 70's.

I pretty much agree with the other comment. The cast iron bases were a relatively hot item during the mid 1980's for conversions to cafe tables, but that market has dried up. The bases go anywhere from $15.00- $45.00. Lovejoy
