Royal Doulton Earthenware Bowl 1933-35

Description

This belonged to my great Grandmother who immigrated here (Australia)

from England in the 1920's. The pattern appears to be grapes or blackberries on a vine?

From research I have discovered:

- This Royal Doulton mark was used from 1931-32 onwards

- "3-35" imprint means it was made March 1935.

- "D5311" pattern number was registered to Royal Doulton in 1933,

There is a "9" (maybe a "C", please check photo) printed under the "D5311" pattern number.

Any idea on what this means would be great.

I would love to know any other information on this piece please,

what the "9" or "C" means,

what the "17" means, what this pattern was called,

what this bowl would have been used for and any idea of value,

etc (besides the priceless sentimental value, of course! :) )

Royal Doulton Earthenware

Based on your images it is a simple 1930's serving bowl, the other marks really could be anything, most likely just a lot or Decorator number. Value wise $35.00-$60.00. Lovejoy

Hello, I live in NZ and I have a large collection of Blackberry pattern that I have collected over the last 25 years. I cannot help you with the markings on the bottom but I wrote to Royal Doulton a few years ago asking for information about the pattern. It seems that it was made in Australia between 1932 and 1959. It was a 36 piece dinner set with a large range of accessory pieces, salad bowls, fruit bowls, sweet bowls, etc. I also have a tea set in my collection. I have looked at the library for an idea on the value but this pattern is never mentioned in Royal Doulton books. In my collection, most of the pieces have an overall blackberry pattern but some are like your piece with just one stem of blackberry. Jennie

Comment above is correct from my findings also. Pattern appears to be australian in origin, or the closest we can find with that pattern is from that location.
