Description
This is a singer 221 featherweight sewing machine that I found at a local goodwill. It has the portable case that it goes in. I looked on the singer website and dated it to approx 1940 model 221. I have tried to research it and have found out that the singer logo is in a different place than other 221 FWs. In the ones I have found, they are on the little light, but on this one, as you can see from the picture, it's on the top of the machine. I was told that this makes it rare. It is working and still in great condition and bright and shiny.
Rare Singer 221 Featherweight
With the exceptions of prototype machines, there is no such thing as a rare Singer Sewing machine. The featherweight is a popular machine amoung quilters, but that is about as far as it goes these days. Of the 50 we have seen sell at auction in the last year the vast majority of them sold for under $250.00. A few completely mint, virtually unused examples sold for $475.00.
