Re: September Morn Figurine

While reading an article about Grace Drayton, I saw a picture in this woman's book that looked like your figurine. I wrote to her and this is her response. I hope this helps! :) Hello! She was designed by illustrator Grace Drayton, the creator of the Campbell Kids and made in bisque by the German Company of Schafer and Vater. The figurine is a parody of the painting "September Morn" by Pual Chabas in 1912. This rather innocuous painting of modestly posed nude in a misty lake won a medal when shown in Paris, but when it was displayed the next year in a gallery window in the United States, it caused great commotion and quickly became one of the most reproduced painting in this country, and the image appeared on everything from calendars to tie tacks. I have the same figurine pcitured in my book, but with an attached vase behind her, and value it at $300-$400. You can also find more information about Drayton here: http://soupdiner.com/Drayton.aspx Hope this helps!
