Description
This is a beautiful Walldurn candle from Germany. It is aprox 10 inches tall from base to tip and aprox 13 inches measuring around. It has NEVER been lit!!!There are 2 stickers on the bottom of the candle. The white sticker is in German and says "Diese Kerze ist Geschmacksmuster geschutzt".The round sticker says "WALLDURN BADEN SCHUTZMARKE JOHANN GUNTER WACHSWARENFABRIK" and in the center says "seit 1924", = since 1924. I am not sure of the exact age of this candle but believe it to be an antique/vintage piece. It is in very good condition with the only wearing being from aging over time.
Re: walldurn German Candle
"WALLDURN BADEN SCHUTZMARKE JOHANN GUNTER WACHSWARENFABRIK"
English: "this candle is design patent geschutzt".The round more sticker says "WALLDURN BATHING TRADE MARK JOHANN GUNTER WAX OBJECT FACTORY"
Re: walldurn German Candle
Based on your images it's unlikely the candle predates the 1960's. As for value I've never run into anyone who collects them, or seen one sell at auction, but I can't see one selling for more than $20.00.

Re: walldurn German Candle
I have one of these candles 8" tall. It appears to be one of the eternal candles that you speak of. Boy and girl by a well.
Do you know anything about this particular one?
Re: walldurn German Candle
I sold a small one(Hansel and Gretel) for $35.00 about 4" tall. if this is an Eternal candle it should sell over $150.00.
Eternal candles top comes off and they have a candle dispenser inside with a spring that pushes the candle out as it burns.
pick the lid up and look at it.
I will be listing mine at my store you may see pictures there:

The one I have was bought by my mother-in-law while she lived in Germany in the 1970's. She was an artist (painter)so the theme was a painter. She and my father-in-law(Army Colonel) were well traveled and bought many wonderful things all over the world.
Re: walldurn German Candle
The candle can be made of paraffin (a byproduct of petroleum refining), stearin (now produced almost exclusively from palm waxes), beeswax (a byproduct of honey collection), gel (a mixture of resin and mineral oil), some plant waxes (generally palm rings, carnauba, bayberry, or soy), or tallow (rarely used since the introduction of affordable and cheap wax alternatives). The candle is produced in various colors, shapes, sizes and scents. The size of the flame and corresponding rate of burning is controlled largely by the candle wick.
The most basic production method generally entails the liquification of the solid fuel by the controlled application of heat. This liquid is then poured into a mold to produce a pillar type candle, a fireproof jar to produce a candle container, or a wick is repeatedly immersed in the liquid to create a dipped taper web hosting. Often, fragrance oils are added to the liquid wax prior to pouring. Natural scents, in the form of essential oils, can also be used. The candle may also be colored by the addition of some sort of coloring agent. This is almost always an aniline-based dye, although pigments can be used in some circumstances.
A candle typically produces about 13 lumens of visible light and 40 watts of heat, although this can vary depending primarily on the characteristics of the candle wick laptops. For comparison, note that a 40 watt incandescent light bulb produces approximately 500 lumens for the same amount of power.
Re: walldurn German Candle
Hi I too have just recently acquired a hand carved Gunter candle which does seem to be an Eternity Candle as it has the insert which can be removed and the spring all in tact... the candle has never been burned mine stands about 12 inches in height (give or take) and it is of a brick pillar/tower wall with windows at the top (with 2 ladies looking out one is a blue shirt and one in a reddish burgandy shirt) and around the tower are 5 German men playing instruments eg. accordian, flute, violin, some type of string guitar ?, and a bass (I think) colors are honey like for the tower and the men have varied colors... The tower also has a black brick type base and a black shingle type roof... (on the top the word "GUNTER" is inscribed looks to be in great shape ... would like some information on this if possible especially the aprox year it may of been made. It also has 2 stickers on the bottom...1st white sticker states :Diese Kerze ist Geschmacksmuster geschu...(part of that word is missing) and the second sticker is a gold circle with the words "Wachswarengabrik Walldurnbaden D-6968 Gunter Kerzen GMBH" There doesn't seem to be any other markings ... it also apears that this is 2 candles in one? as the very top tip has a wick (tip gets removed to see the internal candle which as I stated can also be removed to be a hand held candle -- has the spring) Please email me ANY info you may have to [email protected]
thank you so much

Re: walldurn German Candle
Hi guys, I have recently come into possesion of a 1924 Gunter candle. There is no internal candle for the spring to push up on. I am unsure of the type of candle to use inside; a straight sided one would simply fly out of the end, a tapered one doesn't seem that it would slide up as it burned and it would end up burning the plastic top holder.Could someone please recomend a candle type to use inside the candle? Could you explain the look of the internal candle so I could get a replacement please? Thank youn ahead of time for any assistance you could be. R/Deb
Re: walldurn German Candle
I purchased a large old candle similar to the ones discussed in Comments. Mine is a village scene with WALLDORN carved at the bottom. I do not recall how I got on a particular website years ago, but one of the buildings is shown on the city site. It stands out because it is a brick or stone building with a round window inside a square frame.Never been lit. How do I sell this? It is 9" tall. Thank for any info.
Re: walldurn German Candle
WALLDURN BADEN SCHUTZMARKE JOHANN GUNTER WACHSWARENFABRIK (1971)
Walldurn/Baden, Miltenberger Strasse 13; Hours: M-F 8-12, 1-5 and Sat/Sun 12-5.
These candles came from a factory in Walldϋrn located between Heidleberg and Wϋrzburg. They were very popular with American military families in the 1970s and before; driving up from Karlsruhe or down from Frankfurt. You could take a tour through the small factory and see the candles sitting on the workbenches, all white, before the handpainting began. Then you could pick out the one you wanted before any packaging had occurred. Some of the 1971-2 favorites were “The Bookseller” and “The Troubadours” (Elizabethan Age musicians) and, from the same period, one with scenes of craftsmen at work – baker, jeweler, clockmaker, carver, and brewer. I think I heard that the factory had burned, at least we couldn’t find it in 1999. There is a medical office at that location now.
The everlasting candles seem to have developed in the 70s – a removable top and spring-loaded 1” round white candle inside. The problem was that as the candle got short and melted soft near the end, the spring would push it out of the big candle, sometimes making a nice mess.
There is another candle factory in Walldϋrn now, but the candles on their website are plain.
