Set of dining chairs

By maria Toth, 2 June, 2008
Description

This is a set consisting of 2 arm chairs, and 4 side chairs (there were two more side chairs that stayed with the seller)

Top of the back is carved , faces are not identical- the arm chairs have King and Queen faces, ths sides are similar but not identical.

They have been re-upholstered - red vinyl, probably the original seat and back cover was leather. Will have to be restored to leather.

The arm chairs have 4 casters, the side chairs have wheels only at the front legs.

I would like to know what style they are or find something similar to establish how they have to be restored.  I assume they are baroque?

Do not know the wood specie

Best regards,

Maria

Re: Set of dining chairs

Your suite is not near as old as it first appears. Such sets were made during the second quarter of the 20th Century, but were loosely based on early English furniture in the Elizabethan, Jacobean, William & Mary styles. Most are composites of these three styles, a type of Mix & Match. The chairs sell in the $150.00- $200.00 a piece range.

Re: Set of dining chairs

Thank you for your replay and information.

I looks like I have overpaid for the chairs.

could you tell me something about the seat/ back covers, what would be appropriate to use, I plan to have them upholstered. I was thinking that stamped leather With very little detail would be right.

Thank you,

Maria
