Description
I believe this to be a china hutch. It is marked via burning/branding on the inside of the drawer with "Memphis Furniture Manufacturing Company - Pyramid Line. The only thing I know about the Memphis Furniture Company is that it was started in 1896 by Robertson Morrow and closed in 1983. I believe this piece was bought after 1920 but before 1940 but can't be sure. It is in fair condition. It currently has the original finish but is missing its glass. It has never been refinished. However, I would like to refinish it but don't want to if it will devalue the hutch in any way. If it is not worth very much, then I will proceed with refinishing. Any information anyone has to add is great and very much appreciated.

Re: china hutch
Your evaluation is close, these pieces were generally made during the mid 20's until the Depression hit in the early 30's. It's in the Colonial Revival style, which is a mix of styles made during the USA's Colonial period (1620-1780). Refinishing pieces of this type, if done correctly, will only improve their value. In the rough these often sell for less than $200.00.

What is a reasonable amount that I can expect to pay to have this cabinet refinished? thanks!
