Blue Delft Tiles, Mugs, statue

By LCassidy, 4 July, 2008
Description

I have a few mugs w/matching tiles all marked blue delft holland.
I was curious if someone knew how old they were, the value, etc...

They were aquired through an family member's estate a few years ago, but unfortunatley, i don't have any other knowledge about them.

Any help is much appreciated.

Re: Blue Delft Tiles, Mugs, statue

These are modern pieces, made for the tourist trade, it's unlikely they predate the 1950's.  $35.00 for the lot.

Re: Blue Delft Tiles, Mugs, statue

There is a huge flashing sign here and that is WHALESHIP LAGODA , this is an american whaleship that in the late 1800's was captured by the japanese and recovered by an American Navel Ship.  Currently it is the centerpiece of the New Bedford Whaling Museum on display.   So these pieces are from the gift shop , I am guessing that the owner of these lives in the New Bedford area or visited there probably sometime after 1990.  So the value is not much , it is a crossover collectible but still the value is very low
