FDR clock shell?

By Sue2, 4 July, 2008
Description

It's the shell of an FDR Man of the hour clock.

I had never seen a man of the hour clock but I found one online and I'm posting a picture of it along with my shell of the clock.

I don't know anything about it and I haven't found anything online until I found this other picture.

I'd like to know anything about it, when it was made, who made it and if it's worth anything.

Thanks

Re: FDR clock shell?

The Roosevelt Man of the Hour clock dates from 1933 the after the 1932 election, made by the United Electric Clock Comapny, its a white base metal with a four color process that gave it a bonze finish. It had a 30 hour key wind

The one you found is a restored piece you might contact seller to see if he or she wants to buy it to restore.  A perfect one would fetch four to five hundred dollars but yours and the restored one are missing a key component.  The Clock which had a scene of a young boy standing on the helm of a ship at sea for the face,  the boys arm and the wheel moved with the tick of the clock

Missing the real value piece and being a shell you might get twenty five to fifty dollars for it but the buyer is going to have to be someone who will restore it

Good Luck with it
