folding lunch box and cup

By John-Pat Opalka, 5 October, 2008
Description

My mother found these items when she sold her parents house.  She gave them to me about 35 years ago and I put them in my attic.  Last year we sold our house and came across them.  I have been unable to find out how old they might be.  The internet informtion deals with kids lunch boxes.  The history does not seem to go back far enough?

Re: folding lunch box and cup

NOT ENOUGH GOOD PICS ON THE LUNCH BOX TO ID, YOUR CUP IS A BYCYCLE RIDES COLLAPSABLE CUP, COULD BE KEPT IN POCKET AND WHEN OUT FOR A BYCYCLE RIDE YOU WOULD STOP AT A STREAM OR SPRING AND GET A REFRESHING DRINK, COMMON AROUND THE 1880's TO 1920's MOST WERE TIN OR NICKLE PLATED. VALUE ON CUP QUITE MODEST VERY COMMON EVEN TODAY AT ANTIQUE MALLS AND FLEE MARKETS,  FROM $5.00 TO $15.00 DEPENDING ON CONDITION.
