Description

This is a pre-columbian figure that is made of a terra cotta type pottery material. I notice that the figure's right hand is positioned on his chest and his left hand is resting on his right thigh. These characteristics seem to be common and present with other "Authentic" Toltec figures. Also, the grooves, lines and holes carved in the headdress and body area, nostril holes, detailed lips, and the round curvature of the arms at the elbows seem to be found often with other Toltec figures I have seen pictures of that are said to be authentic. The color of this figure is not at all "orange" as it appears to be in the attached picture. The terra cotta pottery material mostly resembles the color of dried dirt. The built-on pedestal that the figure balances it's back side on also seems to be commonly present on other authentic Toltec's.

Artifacts really require a physical examination by an expert, the main reason being they have been reproduced since before World War Two. The world renowned Victorian & Albert Museum in London , England has a room full of such pieces on display, all of them when tested with modern erquipment were proven to be fake ;~)

Lovejoy
