Description We found this violin in a barn.  It is in good condition, but it is striped down to the wood.  There are no strings or tuner things with it?  The case has the stamp of GSB inside.  We don't know anything else about it.  There was an article about Tatzumbie DuPea taped to the inside.  Not sure if there is a connection.

My Great-great aunt was Tatzumbie DuPea. She lived to be 121 years, and lived most of her life in So. Calif and LA. I'm very curious as to how a newspaper article would be with your violin, and where the barn was? Do you still have the violin? Can you tell me if it was an article about one of her birthdays? Hi..Tatzumbie was my grand grandmother.  Was your father in advertising, are you related to Roselie of Los angeles?  My grandfather was Edwin DuPea. I would visit her at my Aunt Florence's house on W. 12th St. in L.A. in the summers, when I was young.

Tatzumbie was sister to my great-grandmother Catalina.  I don't know a Roselie, but can ask my cousins.   I have some newspaper pictures of  Tatzumbie on her elderly birthdays, but no family pictures.   Do you have any old pictures of her and her family?   Please keep in touch, we may be distantly related!

 I know of a Rosalie who grow up in Los Angeles and she was related to Tatzumbia Du Pea (Nana) as she called her  Edwin Du Pea was her uncle and she knew him quite well.  Rosalie also knew a Catalina  (aunt Cat) as she was called by Rosalie.  I think Rosalie and her family would be very interested in comunicating with anyone whe is related to Tatzumbia

My name is Sally, Edwin DuPea is my grandfather on my mother's side.  Her name is June (Florence).  She was one of three girls ( June, Ramona, Ruth) born to Edwin DuPea and June Ryan (DuPea).  Ruth is still alive.  Tatzumbie Dupea also went by the name Annie to close friends.  She was in a number of movies in the thirties and forties.  I have a copy of "Across the Wide Missouri"  with Clark Cable.  If you can get a copy you will see her in the beginning of the film as one of the two indian women preparing the wedding Teepee.  She is the oldest.  I do have some photos and a copy of her death certificate.  I was at her funeral at the "Wee Kirk of the Heather" in Forest Lawn.  She died on Feb 26, 1970.  Her offical birth date was July 26, 1849.  She told me it was in Lone Pine, but there were no "white man's" birth records, so she claimed she remembered a big earth quake when she was a young girl.  If you want more information I can contine to recall and perhapes send you what photos I still have.  There was a big fire in the late 40's that distroyed almost all photos and other papers.  sally

Hi Sally I'm your second cousin Rosalie Anna Raftery Davis, your grandfather was my uncle and your mom "Little Florance" was my cousin.  Do you remember your house on Gramercy in San Diego?  I spent Summers with your family there.  Since your dad was in the Navy, we would go to the Navy Base when I came to visit.  Do you still live in So. California?  I will be visiting family in Long Beach this May and maybe we could get together for a long talk.

Susie I knew your mother Aunt Cat as i called her, my mom was Nana's daughter her name was Christine K. Du Pea Raftery. You see we are related.  Please respond and like i told Sally maybe we could all get together when I'm in So. California this May.  That is if you still live in California.

Regarding the article about Tatzumbie DuPea, she was my great grandmother's sister, and I am so excited to find out anything more about her and my great-grandmother, could you please reply and give me an idea of what the article was about?  She lived to be 121, was it regarding her age?  Could you make a copy of it?  I would be very interested to find out anything more about it  I am in my 60's and would like to pass on our family heritage to my own grands and family!

Hello Susan,

I am a direct descendant of Tatzumbie Dupea. My name is Leon Araiza, son of Nash Edward Araiza, born to Ramona June Arazia Trask who was daughter of Edwin Dupea son of Tatzumbie (Annie/Anna) Dupea, daughter of Lorry Arambula and Josephine Arambula. Lorry Arambula was son of Mannuela Arambula and Josephine Arambula was daughter to "wa-be-you" (Paiute for Juniper). I read a posting about a violin found in a barn with an article about Tatzumbie Dupea ( my great-great grandmother) taped to the inside. I also read some communication between you and a few others (Susan Fitz and Sally) in the back and forth I read and recognized names of our relatives, and my heart did some interesting things (all good).
