Wedgwood - claw footed bowl/planter - top half floral and gilt painted, bottom - pink relief frieze

By Workingmum13, 17 December, 2008
Description

Would love to know more about this style/piece etc - My wedgwood reference books say this date stamp could be c.1769 but can't rely on that as I just don't know anything about it.  I think it's lovely and just want to know more about it - Does anyone know what this design/style is called.  Am I correct in thinking this is a planter rather than a bowl - anyone seen anything like it before??

I don't know where you get a date like 1769 from that mark, if the mark was "TYO" the date would be either 1860 0r 1890. Btw, this piece once had a lid.

Re: Wedgwood - claw footed

I think it is a soup tureen with a missing lid. Is that a metal ring around the top? If so is it marked?
