If the mark says " made in japan" the set dates no earlier than the mid 1920's. Values vary a lot for Japanese porcelain, so we'd need to see images of your set to really give you an accurate value.

I also have some items with this mark (2 handpainted tripod bowls with a ceramic spoon) and have been unable to identify the mark, TA in a flower or shamrock with "Made in Japan." From my research and family information, it seems likely the pieces I have date after 1921 and before Pearl Harbor.
