Long Description
This is a Ed Roos cedar chest that I purchased at a flee market in march of 2009. I paid 70.00 dollars for it. It has a postcard inside to send in for an extended warranty on the peice. It expired on Oct. 1 1937. The style number is 8625 and the serial number is 114751. All of the paperwork is still stapeled inside on the lid and the little envelope that says "key" is there also. The lock works and the key is there. There is a cardboard liner in the inside of the chest that I guess was to help with air circulation. The chest is in pretty good shape except for some scratches on the lower front legs.

Re: Ed Roos cedar chest
The Roos company was in business from 1916 - 1951, operating in Forest Park Illinois. The company produced these chests in all the popular styles from Colonial to Art Deco. Most furniture in this style was produced during the mid 1920's until World War II. Values vary considerably for these chests, depending on quality of construction, wood type and how close they follow original period designs. Most today sell for under $300.00

Thanks for the info. Can you help me or do you know where I can find any information about my chest based on the model type or the serial number.

Re: Ed Roos cedar chest
If I set you a picture or two could you please tell me what my cedar chest is worth?
I just bought it at a barn sale for $5 ... I know that it needs a little work, it looks like there is a bit of water damage on the top.
Thanks.
Re: Ed Roos cedar chest
Sure, just post the image and I'll give it a look.
Re: Ed Roos cedar chest
My mother has a 1946 Ed Roos Sweetheart Cedar Chest in fair condition. I am trying to establish a fair price for it-I want to buy it from my mother's estate. My sister wants 250.00 for it. I think that is too high from other things I have seen. What should I do?
