Dumpster Diver David found two chairs identical at local dump. Someone did not want to throw them away. David grabbed them and brought these two chairs home(Gainesville,FL). The label is (worn but readable of their origin) from Gardner, Massachusetts. Nichols and Stone furniture, we looked up and found out, is the oldest continental USA furniture maker in America! We cannot find these chairs on any Nichols and Stone website,however. Does anyone know about our chairs? Thank you!

I just bought a used table and set of chairs that look just like yours. I checked the bottom and, shore nuff, it's Nichols and Stone "The Home of Windsor Chairs" of Gardner, Massachusetts. The crest with the "NS" burned into the bottom of mine is slightly different. Yours looks older.
Good for Dumpster Diver David for finding treasures where others see only trash. Hope it's worth a fortune!

we have 8 of these chairs in our garage (circa 1950). We were going to basically give them away at a garage sale next weekend. We need to reconsider. The N/S is not burned into the wood underneath, but etched.

Hi, I'm new to the site so I don't know how old this post is, I don't see a date anywhere. I just wanted to know if you ever got more information on your chairs? I found a rocker with this same mark today in a thrift store and there is just NOTHING on the internet anywhere dating this exact mark. Thanks, Christine
