Re: Hoosier kitchen cabinet by Elwell Kitchern Cabinet ...
Hoosiers were hot items during the 1980's- 90's, but are now not near as sought after. They peaked in value for a really good one in perfect condition at about $1800.00, now it is possible to pick one up in restored condition for under $1000.00.

Re: Hoosier kitchen cabinet by Elwell Kitchern Cabinet ...
The Elwell cabinet is a great cabinet. I have been buying and selling all types of Hoosier Style cabinets for 32 years. I really don't think your appraiser knows what he/she in talking about. It seems to be a form answer. Find someone that can give the folks an honest opinion as to the value of their things.

Joe, we get pile of Hoosiers in here every year, most of them in less than perfect condition and it's hard not to say anything about them that has not already been covered.
My personal records contains close to 600 of these cabinets sold in the USA at auction in the last five years, of the 38 fully restored Hoosiers I've seen sold this year none have sold for over $550.00. Examples in less than restored condtion sold for less than $300.00, I've seen painted Hoosier cabinets in perfect condition sell for $275.00 just this past week, and painted cabinets in average condition go for $100.00- $150.00.
