Description
I acquired this radio about 10 yrs. ago from a friend of mine. I immediately plugged it up to see if it still worked. It did. The plug is old and worn so I'm afraid to plug it in now. The stamp on the back says Radio Corporation of America and Hazeltine Corporation.
Re: radio
cisco,
Nice set even without the dial cover. It was made around 1938 or 1939 (the bakelite type came a little later) and is a variation of the 542 model of 1939. You have a piece of paper or plastic covering the lower left part of the chassis in the back. That is usually where the numbers are. If it has a number stamped on it in the 500s then that's your model number.
It's a little rough but not beyond fixing. Plugs are about the easiest things to replace but should be done by a professional so they can add a couple of safety features to keep you from getting hurt if you should touch the wrong part of the back.
