Raised Dolphin Painting by C Benolt

By rainie, 24 September, 2009
Description

This painting was given to a friend by a wealthy couple who he did some work for at their gorgeous waterfront home. It is an original painting by C. Benolt.
It is a large painting measuring 24" x 36" or 29" x 41" with the frame. It is really beautiful and very unusual because the dolphins and other parts are raised giving it a 3D type look.
I need to find out if anyone knows the value and maybe the age of this painting. I have found a few of his works, mostly flowers or such, listing for about 350.00 and up, but his tropical fish paintings seem to be more valuable, listing from around 600.00 to over 8,000.00.
So with such a wide range in value, I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me any info on this painting I have.....Thank you !!!

Re: Raised Dolphin Painting by C Benolt

I bought 4 Benolt paintings~ (2) 3'x4' (2) 2'x3' at a large outdoor market in S Fla in 2000 for $300. One of them was an early version of this ^ with a lot more detail. You can tell it's an early piece because under inspection you can see where he had painted over (background plants). And quite nicely I might add. I later added 2 more much smaller Benolt paintings (1'x2') for approx $125 each from an art dealer. I've seen 2'x3' Benolt paints listed for $350 in art shops but have never seen the larger ones anywhere. An online search shows 2'x3' Benolt ocean paintings going for as low as $65 upwards to the mid hundreds. Just wanted to share. I love my paintings ~ especially his early works and wouldn't part with them for the world! They're so vivid in color and texture.. just stunning!

Re: Raised Dolphin Painting by C Benolt

I have come across this artist several times now---LOVE his paintings, but I can find very little about the artist, if it is a real person.  I actually have a raised dolphin painting, three tropical fish paintings, and a red poppy flower painting; they are all so beautiful, raised oils, very detailed.  I have no idea what they are worth, can anyone help?
