LeTendre Oil Painting

By CherylBlack, 18 September, 2009
Description

The picture was bought at Traditional Galleries, Inc. on 7/16/82 with a certified original oil #9350. I have tried to look up "LeTendre" on the computer as the artist. (There is no first name listed on the Value Assurance Certificate or the painting itself, Just, LeTendre) and the only name that comes up is a Rita Letendre from Canada. She is known for her abstract paintings and this is an oil painting of a lighthouse on a deserted beach on what appears to be some big lake of Michigan, Lake Superior or Lake Michigan possibly. What I wanted to know is if this a Rita LeTendre painting or someother LeTendre and how much it is worth?

Re: LeTendre Oil Painting

Oh hey I have the same kind of painting. Mine doesn't have the light house, its the other side of the picture. This is so cool to see yours. I have always wondered about it, i got mine from a friends mom about 15 years ago and she doesn't remember where she got but said I could have it cause she was tired of looking at it. I love mine but was going to bring it to an art gallery to have it looked at, just so I know. Have you found out anything about yours?

Re: LeTendre Oil Painting

Not seeing the back of your painting so I’m making a guess but this site https://creativedazewithgeri.blogspot.com/2011/12/collectors-corner-inc… might give you an idea of what you have. Could be wrong but if it has the collectors corner sticker you’ll know for sure.

Re: LeTendre Oil Painting

Paintings like this tend to date from the last quarter of the 20th century, most were sold as decorator pieces at travelling "Starving Artist" clearance sales held in Hotel conference centers. These were painted in multiples of the same scene by unknown Artists under contract to Art Wholesalers. If they are signed the signatures are usually pseudonyms and not the Artists real name. Values for them tend to be modest in the current market, most go at auction for less than $200.00

Re: LeTendre Oil Painting

Hello my name is Payton Letendre, my grandfather his name is Henry Letendre, he was aN oil painting artist and your piece looks familiar but not the same style of place. He has paintings of landscapes and I have not seen a lighthouse like the one shown. But the signature on the paintings are like dead on and checking with the paintings I have has the same bigger t that is shown on yours, no looped L though. Im hoping you can get in touch and we can talk more, thankyou.
