Re: Poole Silver Punch Bowl

The bowl I have appears to be too large to be a serving dish. The markings on the underneath side are stamped: Poole Silver Co. Quadruple Plate Taunton.Mass. 953. In addition to that on the bottom on the edge next to one of the raised legs appears to be engraved by hand the following: XZE with a line, then beneath the line it's engraved in with cusive lettering TLS or TPS. My husband and I aquired the family farm with all it's contents and we are the 3rd generation to live here. My grandad passed away in 2007 at the age of 93. It's my thinking this bowl belonged to my Grandmother or possibly my Great Grandmother. I am curious as to the age and if it's a punch bowl or merely decorative, and the possible value. Should I insure it or simply use it and enjoy it like a common serving dish? My email is: [email protected]

Thank you for your time,

Sincerely,

Margie
