Description The chest is amazing. It has Red Cedar. It has its original tags stating the quality Features. And a tag inside offering moth insurance That covers $100 to the owner of the chest. It does have some damage. The upper right hand corner has a coffee cup size wood damage. a layer of the wood has been torn away. It looks like a cup has been rested there. Sense this was a gift to me I am not selling it at this time. It is in perfect condition on the inside. Smells like fresh cedar.

The lane chests have been made since the early years of the 20th Century, production peaking in the 1920's, Values depend a great deal on condition and model, but most sell for less than $300.00 even if in wonderful condition. At auction $50.00 and up. Lovejoy

I have one that is just like it. It was advertised by shirley temple and the ad alone is sold for 12.99. Check it out by searching for this ad... the picture of the hope chest is one the cover of the ad. I hope this helps. I heard that it can be sold for 499.00 plus.

I have a chest I just inherited that looks very similar. Style 1850 and serial # 547711 = year 1947. It has a screw that twists for more aroma and like the one above has the moth insurance paperwork in it.
